Hi Maylen, I loved watching your vlog! You made so many excellent points on cyberbullying that I don’t even know which point to comment on. I loved the idea of teaching our students to intervene when they see bullying rather than be bystanders. When I was younger, I remember a time where a group of students would just bluntly crack jokes about their “friend” right to their face. Their friend would try to laugh it off with everyone else but you can sense the discomfort in their body language after. I wish a teacher would have taught me in elementary school to intervene in a moment like that. I could have made it known to the group of friends that the friend was uncomfortable or asked the friend if they wanted to tell an adult. You mentioned having honest conversation with students, where they can feel free to voice out their opinions. What strategies can you recommend for a first time teacher, dealing with bullying in their classroom, when it comes to starting such a serious conversation on bullying? How should a first time educator go about bringing up bullying and setting up boundaries with their students? Overall, your vlog was amazing, You are truly a natural vlogger!
